Modul B - VirtualSerialPort

In many use cases, the user wants to get SerialSniffer „in-between“ the existing serial link of an external device and a user application in order to visualize the data stream or manipulate it for testing purpose.

SerialSniffer comes with the possibility to connect to two serial ports. Let’s say, that the left port (“Comport A”) of SerialSniffer will be connected in any case to the external device using a physical port.

Without the virtual serial port, the user is forced to use a null modem connection to connect the right port (“Comport B”) of SerialSniffer with the user application. This means, that two more physical comports and the cables becomes mandatory. Also only a few of the actual PC and notebooks has the possibility to use three comports in total.

By using the virtual serial port, the two additional physical ports became obsolete. SerialSniffer adds a new comport to the operating system, which can be directly used by the user application.
